Wicked

I've never been to Wicked.

My daughter just got invited to go with a friend to this summer's production of Broadway Across America's Wicked! Her friend will be celebrating her sweet 16th birthday and wanted to do something special. When I mentioned that Wicked is coming to town, that seemed to be just right. Now my daughter will join her friend and a couple of other girls to see just what happened before Dorothy got to OZ.

That I'd like to see.

Faerie Fantasies

I've never been to Faerie Fantasies before.

This small shop is located in Pearland, Texas. While looking for a local distributor of reusable feminine menstrual products, I found this shop's website. It is a very small shop in a field off the main road. But there are signs to help direct you to the store. The owner is not there every day but will open the shop "on demand" if you give her a call before you come by. She appears to be young but friendly and cares about the world she is living in and trying to make it a better place. There is not a lot of stock but enough if you are going for a particular item. The shop is clean. She is stocking things like menstrual cups, eco-friendly soaps and lotions, and reusable gift bags. Her prices are very reasonable, competitive even and I hope that she is able to make a go of her newly founded business.

the spot

I had never been to The Spot before.

After our long training day, we headed to The Spot on Galveston Island. This is apparently a favorite spot for quite a number of folks. Though the line was out the door when we arrived, it moved quickly and there was plenty of seating, indoors and out. You order your burger (or whatever else you want) and head to your table. Once your order is ready you can add whatever fixings you like.

One specialty item they offer is something I'd never heard of, "frickles", or fried pickles. I am not much into pickles but I did try one of my friends. Um, no thanks! Even my husband, who loves pickles was not impressed. The burgers were good, as was the iced tea. It was a great place to eat following a good day of training.

That I'd like to see.

Singapore Flyer

I had never been to the Singapore Flyer before.

I am not big on Ferris Wheels, so was really not planning to ride. But when my sister got discounted tickets for everyone in our group, well, how could I resist! And we were all trying to help the 5 year be brave, so we had to show our bravery too…

We went as a group of 12 or 13 to ride the world's highest observation wheel.

We were happy to find out that we all got to ride together in one car. It was not a bad ride, though my fear of heights kept me pretty still. My daughter enjoyed doing all the picture taking and poking a little fun of me for being scared.

It took about 20 minutes to complete one rotation. We enjoyed seeing the city lights (we rode at night) and the cars.

There was some debate as to whether it would be prettier in the daytime or not.
