Around the World in Eighty Days

I've never been around the world in eighty days.

But recently, writer Mark Schatzker was commissioned by Conde Nast Traveler to make just such a trip. The catch however was to make it in exactly 80 days, as in Jules Verne's novel. He could not take a plane or helicopter and could not travel over 100 miles per hour. The intent of this journey was slow travel-to reconnect with a way of travel that allows you to really see the sights. He cruised, rode horseback and sea kayaked.

You can see Mark's photos and read his blog online. His journey will be highlighted in the September 2007 Conde Nast Traveler magazine.

That I'd like to see.
