Los Posadas

I had never been to a Los Posadas celebration before.

Before Christmas, we were blessed to be able to attend a Los Posadas celebration put on by second graders in a local private school. Los Posadas is the Mexican celebration of the journey of Mary and Joseph to Bethlehem and their search for an inn. These second graders did an excellent job reciting and singing in both Spanish and English. We followed the candle lit re-enactment on a path lit by farolitas listening to the recitations and singing. When we reached the destination, the group sang "Silent Night" in both Spanish and English. It was a special night for these kids and their parents.

That I'd like to see.

Las Posadas

I've never been to a Las Posadas celebration.

This week, second graders at a local private school will host a Las Posadas celebration. They will sing and recite in Spanish the story of Mary and Joseph traveling to Bethlehem and searching for an inn. This will be an outdoor celebration, complete with candlelight.

That I'd like to see.
