Olympics

I've never been to the Olympics.

Well, at least not out of this country!! I have the privilege and honor of saying that I have actually attended some Olympic events right here in our own country. In 1984 our parents took us on a road trip to California to see the games in Los Angeles! It's pretty cool to say that I've been to the Olympics. We got to see women's basketball and men's handball. We had a nice trip leaving us with many memories and a great conversation topic. We were supposed to go to the Olympics again in 1996 in Atlanta but it did not work out that time. Maybe one day we will get to see another Olympic games!

Sri Lanka

I've never been to Sri Lanka.

Now voted as one of the top sites to visit in 2010 since the civil warring has ended. Located off India's coast, this beautiful island boasts pristine beaches, due to lack of tourists in recent years. Though devastated by the tsunami in 2004, hotels are now up and running. An international airport is under construction. There are some nice hotels providing places to relax, snorkel, and white sand beaches. And what fun to catch a glimpse of the freely roaming elephants, water buffaloes and monkeys.

heather on her travels

I had never been to heather on her travels blog before.

As I have been really slow in my blogging these days, I missed a comment a few days ago about heather and her time last year sleeping near a smoking volcano ! I cannot even imagine. But this seems to be the MO for heather. She is a world traveler and her blog on her travels is really lovely. I can't wait to head back and check out some of her older posts.

Real Travel Trip Planner

I've never used the Real Travel trip planner .

This looks like an excellent site for planning my next trip. There are pages of valuable information and resources to help me choose the perfect destination, activities and find the best travel deals.

This site has a free trip planner to allow me to completely customize my next trip. I can look at what others have to say about their travels to particular locations, as well as browse through photographs others have placed on the site. I can join the free forum to chat with others who have already been to these destinations, getting the best and most accurate first hand information.

I can browse through a list of destinations to see where I'd like to go. Or I can look through a list of my favorite activities to help me choose my next destination. I can find deals on hotels and flights and I can even compare prices. I can even make arrangements for multi-country travel deals.

Places Remembered and Imagined

I had never been to Places Remembered and Imagined before.

This looks to be a new blog, and one nicely done. I like the layout, but more than that, I like the "feel" of the blog. I think the title really drew me in. I like the way he is reminiscing about places he's been as well as dreaming of places he would like to go (something I do here regularly.) It was nice to note that some of his family is from the same place that some of my family was from. An interesting connection. He has a nice easy style to read and a very enjoyable blog. I particularly like Trenton Makes the World Takes as I had not heard that before. Maybe one day we will eventually make it to all the places we dream of going.

Clearly Enlight's Travel Blog

I had never been to Clearly Enlight's travel blog before yesterday.

What an incredible blog he has going there. The pictures are lovely and make me want to pack up and go. CE's travel blog also let me in on the fact that he has lived many places, but most incredible of all is the fact that he is beginning to arrange his life in order to stop working in October. He then will spend a month in preparation for his upcoming transition to world travel. He plans to spend the next four to seven years traveling the world! That is one blog that I will be looking forward to reading!

Dubai

I've never been to Dubai.

Of course I've heard so much about it, and my previous jaunt over to Go Smell the Flowers blog reminded me of what a great place this would be to visit.

In Dubai you will be amazed at the skyscrapers and the mosques that reside within the small area surrounded by the Persian Gulf. But that has not daunted the leaders in Dubai. When they run out of land area, they just create artificial islands and keep constructing stunning new buildings.

You will be amazed at the Jumeirah Mosque, even from the outside. Or see the lovely beaches, or perhaps take a river taxi. Lots of shopping can get done in this city, and many malls and markets are the place to do it.

The Wild Wadi Water Park sounds like just the place to beat the heat. The water slides in this park shoot you up before you slide down. And of course, a lobby tour of the 7 star Burj Al Arab is a must.

Farm School

I've never been to Farm School.

Located in north-central Massachusetts, Maggies Farm is the place to go to learn to farm. It was opened in 1989 with a focus on teaching school children about farming, and how their food gets from farm to table. A little over a dozen years later, the founder, Ben Holmes, decided to guide adults in Practical Farm Training.

Students range in age from 18-60 and spend twelve months learning the practical skills needed to run a small farm. This includes everything from tilling to rotational grazing to marketing. The program begins in the fall indoors with animal husbandry basics, land history and the necessary mathematical skills for planning the next season's crops. Once the growing season arrives, everyone is outdoors from morning til night planting and picking organic herbs and vegetables.

North Cyprus

I've never been to North Cyprus.

It is located at a crossroads to three continents and is rich in history. It has an excellent climate for vacationers, boasting over 300 days of sunshine. Water sports, exploration, medieval castles and archeological sites are among tourists favorite ways to relax. Although North Cyprus has long been a British playground, it has not experienced the over development of South Cyprus and retains its rural, slower-paced life style.

And now, buying North Cyprus Property is even easier. Running from 30,000 pounds for an apartment to a detached villa with a pool for under 100,000 pounds, property can be purchased for a great value.

Bryce Canyon

I've never been to Bryce Canyon.

Located in Southern Utah, it was designated a National Park because of its unique rock formations. These formations, called "hoodoos", are formed when ice and rainwater wear away the limestone. The park actually exists in three climate zones-a spruce/fir forest, a Pinyon pine/juniper forest, and a Ponderosa pine forest. The area is filled with a variety of bird, mammal and plant species. On clear days visibility can often exceed 100 miles!

Glasgow

I've never been to Glasgow.

The city is renowned for its art, museums and architecture. There are over 20 museums to visit, most of which are free. The architecture of Charles Mackintosh is found throughout the city. Shopping in Glasgow is the best in the UK outside of London. And there is much nightlife of which to partake.

And coming this December, Eric Schiffer will be in town filming a remake of a Charles Bronson film. The current title is "Death Wish Returns." This film is scheduled to be released in mid 2008.

Mayan Ruins

I've never been to the Mayan Ruins.

They are thousands of years old. Apparently the Mayans were of Asian ancestry, crossing over when the Bering Strait was still connected to North America. It has been said that the ruins were original before the time of Christ.

The layout of the ruins is astrologically correct. They predicted the summer solstice on June 21. There is even an opening in the wall for the light to beam through on that day. The Mayans were very accurate with their calendars. They knew the world was round.

The ruins are located atop a cliff which drops down into a beautiful turquoise ocean. These waters are thought to be holy to some and many trek here to bathe in the water.

Kathmandu

I've never been to Kathmandu.

This largest city in Nepal is also its capital. It is situated in an earthquake prone valley, which actually consists of three main towns. It boasts much ancient history, such as the Buddha having spent some time here. There is much antiquity to be validated, with the earliest known inscription to be dated 185 AD. You can find the juxtopostion interesting as well with the King's Palace being situated right next to the main tourist center. You can find hotels and backpacker's hostels. You can visit the market and see Buddhist and Hindu shrines.

Amsterdam

I've never been to Amsterdam .

This city is full of a charm all its own. Many tourists of course want to visit the house in which Anne Frank and her family hid during WWII. The house leaves an impression on the many visitors it brings. There is art and architecture to view as well. To get a unique view of the city's buildings, it is a must to take a ride down the canal. Art is also treasured in this city of Rembrandt. You can visit the house where he lived and painted. This city also offers shopping rivaling the likes of Paris, London and Milan. It has been said that Amsterdam has more to offer for those with less cash.

Before departing for Amsterdam, be sure to check easytobook.com . They offer hotel rates up to 75% off. You can search featured hotels, hotel of the month, or deluxe hotel specials. You can find a hotel to meet your needs. Every kind of hotel that Amsterdam has to offer, whether luxury, cheap or Schiphol can be found here.

Museum of Hoaxes

I've never been to the Museum of Hoaxes .

This museum is full of the greatest hoaxes of all time. Included are the spaghetti hoax, the nylon stocking/TV hoax, and make believe Mets pitcher Sidd Finch. There is some pretty funny stuff to see here.

This museum exists only online, though you can see beautiful photos of their non-existent location in San Diego.

As April first rolls around, nothing new has been added to the annuual list of the 100 best April Fool's hoaxes . You gotta be pretty good to get on the list, according to Alex Boese, curator.

Miami

I've never been to Miami.

Of course, I'd have to hit the beach and soak up the sunshine. I think that is probably the number one thing for tourists to Miami to do. But there is more to Miami than that.

After you hit Miami Beach, you might want to take in the art scene around Miami. There are also lots of world class shopping to get done. You can take in a sporting event or other family friendly attractions.

Built from local quarried coral limestone, Coral Gables is a unique area to visit. The quarry itself was turned into a Venetian swimming pool. This one of a kind pool boasts waterfalls and romantic stone bridges.

Museum of Funeral History

I've never been to the Museum of Funeral History .

This unique tribute to mortuary is located in a Houston neighborhood. It is set in what might have been an industrial park. The exhibits are located in a hangar sized room. The rest of the builiding houses "Undertakers University".

The displays are eye catching novelties of the funeral world. Here you can find a Japanese hears, a 1916 hearse bus, or a prop from Cyrano de Bergerac. There is a tribute to Lincoln, Kennedy and King Tut.

You can even buy souviners before leaving. Perhaps you could use a coffin shaped putter, or a coffin charmed necklace, or better yet, a chocolate casket candy bar.

Bulgaria

I've never been to Bulgaria.

They have recently been accepted into the EU. This should prove good for Bulgaria in several ways, including tourism. There are beaches along the Black Sea coast for enjoyment and relaxation. There are resorts in this area for tourists to enjoy. If you would rather wait til winter to visit, there are many slopes to enjoy skiing. There are ski resorts near the capital of Sofia.
