America's Got Talent

I've never been to America's Got Talent.

I have seen the show some on television. There are some pretty cool acts and there are some pretty scary/gruesome acts. And there are some there that seem to think they have more talent than they exhibit on stage! We have enjoyed watching some of the acts together as a family. Others I just turn away from. At least it is a way for me to pass the time while recuperating! And it is a program we can all agree on as a family.

acne treatment

I've never been to an acne treatment.

I never had much of a problem with acne growing up, so I guess I never really had to deal much with how to treat acne. I would even say that I have as much or more trouble with acne now as a middle aged woman than I did as a teen. I guess once I get the other side of this state of hormonal fluctuation I will be able to maintain acne free skin.

Miami Zoo

I've never been to the Miami Zoo.

I did see some animals from the Miami Zoo on the Early Show today. One of the zoo handlers brought in a three week old baby leopard. Very cute. But of course he stressed how big they get and that they are indeed wild animals and not pets. Then he brought out a four week old white tiger. Super cute! She even drank out of a bottle! They stated how much the white tiger population in the wild has gone down over this century. I also learned that the white tiger is not another species of tiger but just a mutation of genes. I think tigers are beautiful creatures, both white and the traditional coloring.

pre-op

I had never been to pre-op before.

Yesterday I was doing ok before my surgery. Until I went into the pre-op. It was sort of like an ER with several beds and pull around curtains. Everyone was nice enough, but I still got really nervous. All went well and now I am home recouping. I am remembering my exercises, my vitamins, my ice therapy and my boot. I need a little more rest but following all instructions I am hoping to be back on my feet again soon!

Buffalo Bayou Hike and Bike Trails

I've never been on the Buffalo Bayou Hike and Bike Trails.

I had no idea that Houston offers a contiguous system of bike trails totaling 20 miles, though it appears that some may still be under construction. They have repaved some of the trail from Shepherd to Sabine. Seventy-five trees were also planted to help add some shade to the trail area. You can download a trail map here. I hope to be able to get up to these trails soon!

I've never been to the Nature Discovery Center.

This hands on science "lab" is located in Bellaire in the Old Henshaw home. It features Discovery rooms filled with interactive exhibits and Discovery boxes. The Center is modeled after the Smithsonian. Kids from pre-school age and up can learn about critters, snakes, shells, animal teeth, seeds, and birds. They can also participate in story and craft time. The center is open
