Teascript

I had never been to Teascript before.

This website allows you to make free transcripts for home schooled high schoolers. It's easy to use, just plug in your information and you will get the transcript generated for you. There is a free service and a paid service available. For free you can get one transcript for one student listing up to 24 courses, 8 activities and 8 standardized test scores. By upgrading the account you can list up to 80 courses,  30 tests scores and 30 activities. In the upgraded account you also get to view it advertising free. Since the upgraded account is only $5 per month, I will likely upgrade my account before printing up my son's final transcript.

New Year's Eve Karoake

I've never been to a New Year's Eve Karaoke.

I know it is a popular form of entertainment for lots of folks and could be a lot of fun, if there were some decent singers participating. We were at a karaoke one night, and there were some who were pretty good and some who were not! While it might be a good night of fun for some people, I know that if I were there they would not want me anywhere near the karaoke microphone! As for others, well, I hope they have a great night of New Year's Eve Karaoke.

MacKenzie River Pizza Co.

I had never been to MacKenzie River Pizza Co. before.

We tried this place out our first night in Bozeman, MT. YUM! We are pizza lovers and fell in love with this place on our first visit. The pizza is really good and I loved that I could get a veggie pizza just the way I like it! And we all enjoyed the fact that we could do our pizzas half and half so we got to try more different varieties that way.

I decided I wanted to eat there again on my birthday. While the place was more crowded and slower in getting the food out, the pizza was still really good. I mentioned that I thought it was the best we'd ever had. My son reminded us of the Italian pizzeria we ate at in Boston. I admit it was better, but this is a close second.

Then my daughter suggested we travel around and find all the best pizza spots in the country...

snow mobiling

I've never been snow mobiling.

My husband wants to try that. When he heard though that most snow mobiling is just done on trails or paths, he thought that sounded too lame. He has it in his mind that it would be fun to just take off across some back country going where ever he wants. I guess maybe there are some places you can still do that...

cross country skiing

I've never been cross country skiing.

In my mind it seems like hiking, only through the snow. It looks like fun to me. To my husband and kids, it looks "too boring". I guess they could always bring their ipods to listen to so they could liven up the trails. Of course, maybe I could try it without them and enjoy the peace and quiet!

princess craft RVs

I've never been to Princess Craft RVs.

I have cycled past an RV place a lot this year. I have often wondered about getting one of the smaller ones, maybe a pop up or something. So I thought I'd look into them. I love the way these little trailers look and there are several floor plans to choose from. These small trailers look about right for towing behind smaller SUVs. It would be so cool to have one of these to take to out of town events like triathlons or basketball tournaments. And would save on staying in hotels too.

college savings account

I've never been to set up a college savings account.

Yes, my kids are nearly ready for college and we've never set up a college savings account. I did learn today about some ways to help pay for college. I found out that one of the ways NOT to pay for college is to use life insurance plans. Saving life insurance for life insurance purposes like those provided by www.wholesaleinsurance.net is fine. But it's not a good idea to use life insurance for college. So we are hopeful about some other ways to help pay for college.

ladies bike ride

I've never been to a ladies bike ride.

This Saturday, Dec. 11,  Bike Barn Houston is sponsoring a Ladies Day Bike Ride. The ride begins at 8am from Terry Hershey Park, Hwy 6 entrance. There are ride distances for all abilities and no one is going to be left behind. This sounds like the perfect ride for beginners to get acquainted with group riding and to learn some good info too. And, the weather should be warmer this weekend too!

outdoor lighting

I've never been to purchase outdoor lighting.

I do love outdoor lighting and the beauty it brings to a home, not to mention the safety as well. One thing I have always wanted and never had in my yard is a "Narnian lamp post." At least a lamp post, one that makes me think of Lucy's meeting Mr. Tumnus. Who knows what kind of magic can happen then....

Bridger Bowl ski area

I've never been to Bridger Bowl ski area.

This is the only ski area I've heard of being run as a "non profit" as all "net profit is reinvested into the mountain." There are over 2000 acres of terrain, eight chair lifts and three lodges. Skiers of all abilities are welcome, as are snowboarders. Lessons are available for different levels of skiers. You can even take a mountain tour. They even offer free skiing to volunteers who can work certain lengths of time and for those who are able to be part of a ski research study!

Bozeman, Montana

I've never been to Bozeman, Montana.

We have been wanting to plan a family ski trip over Christmas holidays and Bozeman, Montana came up as one of the options. Now if traveling that far, we surely decided not to drive. If we did decide to drive up to the fun loving college ski town of Bozeman, I think we would need more than cheap auto insurance quotes, we would need travel insurance and some kind of "snow and ice insurance for those who don't know how to drive in snow and ice"!

But once we make it to Bozeman, I hope to check out Bridger Bowl ski area, some forest trails, maybe a museum or two, and hopefully take a mountain guided tour.

ABC Distributing

I had never been to ABC Distributing before.

But this month, I used their site to order Christmas gifts for family members with whom we celebrated early. The gifts ordered were delivered very quickly. They turned out to be nicer looking than I had expected-these were not the junky gifts you might get when ordering from other online sites. I am glad that I did open each gift to look at them, as one was missing a piece. When I called to explain, they were very nice and replaced the entire set. Although the item did not make it in time, I was able to keep the first product to have as a "temporary gift" until it could be replaced with the in tact one. I was really impressed with the service and quality from ABC.

Black Friday Sales

I've never been to Black Friday Sales.

My mother in law went one year and said it was ridiculously crazy and not worth it. I've taken heed and never ventured out for the early morning day after Thanksgiving shopping frenzy. Since our dishwasher went out on Wed. night, we did think about going out to look for one on Black Friday sale. But when we woke up Friday morning with dark circles around eyes and gave it a second thought, we decided to wait! I have since found out that there is a state rebate plan going on in December for those who purchase qualifying appliances. Hopefully we'll be able to find one with a good deal then.

Moody Gardens Festival of Lights

I've never been to Moody Gardens Festival of Lights.

Going on now through January 1, Moody Gardens has lit up the bay in true Gulf Coast Christmas style. The festival includes a mile long trail of lights, 100 sound enhanced animated displays and a Snow Zone for kids. Photos with Santa are offered as well as the chance to see Christmas themed films and shows. Food Drive Fridays allow 2-for-1 priced admission with a can of food for the food bank.

tea tree oil uses

I've never been to read about tea tree oil uses.

I have heard different tea tree oil uses over the years. Some people recommend it for fighting dandruff, I've heard it is used to treat lice, and can be used as first aid treatment on cuts and burns. I am now hearing it is also effective in treating acne. There are several teens I know who would say....

Ironman Arizona

I've never been to Ironman Arizona.

But if things go as planned, I just might be watching my husband do this race next year! This time next year, Thanksgiving week, my husband is wanting to do the full Ironman course in Tempe, AZ. Of course his ultimate dream is the Ironman in Kona, Hawaii, but hopefully this is just a step towards that goal.

Tristan De Cunha Island

I've never been to Tristan De Cunha Island.

This is one of the remotest places on Earth. It is a British Dependency with only about 300 inhabitants.  I am guessing that these folks are not concerned with the trivial worries many in the U.S. are (like finding the best acne products.) While there is no airport and transportation to the island is only by boat, there is a golf course there!

Thanksgiving Parade volunteer

I've never been to volunteer at the Thanksgiving Day Parade.

I guess I never realized how many volunteer opportunities there are available there. From being an usher in the reserved seating area, to carrying balloons and banners, to parade marshal, there are many things for volunteers to do. Parade volunteers get free parking, free t-shirts, and free breakfast.

top cigars

I've never been to buy cigars.

Once while visiting in Mexico, my husband was offered a deal to purchase some "good cigars". Now I am guessing these were not necessarily the top cigar brands available, though the guy selling them was awfully proud of them-or would have been proud to take my husband's money for them. At any rate, since we don't smoke, we left without buying any. Maybe someone else bought the guy's cigars.

Trooper School

I've never been to Trooper School.

When I asked my friend where her four year old twins are going to school, she told me the local high school! They have a program there called "Trooper School" where junior and senior level high school students who are learning to be teachers actually teach a pre-school three days a week. I am sure the students' teachers are in there with them, but this seems to be a win-win situation for everyone involved. Parents save a little money as the school costs about half of what a regular pre-school costs. The high school students get lots of hands-on training (the days they don't teach they are preparing lessons), and of course the pre-schoolers love the teens! There is a very long waiting list for Trooper School. It seems like a good thing for the whole community.

I've never been on a cruise ship

I've never been on a cruise ship.

I will get the chance to go on my first one this coming thursday.  I am so excited.  I know that all the other people who are planning to go on this cruise have probably spent the last month in the gym, because everyone wants to look good on a cruise.  And with all the free food available, most everyone will be in the gym when they get back, too!  But there are weight loss products that are seemingly more effective then long, tiring gym visits.  Take a look at this one, it could help you shed weight quickly and change your life around.

cardless checkin

I've never been to a gym that used cardless checkin.

But recently, our 24 Hour Fitness Clubs began using a cardless checkin program. You use an id number, like a phone number, and then scan your index finger. Now this seems a little "Big Brother" to me, so I checked out what the company has to say about it. According to their website, your actual fingerprint is not kept on file. Using biomechnic techniques, they scan distinct points on your fingerprint that are unique to you.  Then an id number is devised based on those distances of your print. They keep no fingerprints on file nor can your print be replicated.

Funeral Plans

I've never been to buy a funeral plan...

and I hope I won't have to for a long time to come. But sadly, many of us find this a necessity at some time or another. And since it is something that must be done, it makes sense to do it in an orderly and effective method. There are companies whose only job is to help you set up your funeral plans. This is a helpful idea that is meant to help you achieve what you could not do on your own in your time of need.

nursing home carnival

I had never been to a nursing home carnival.

Until last Sunday. The local nursing home has hosted a Halloween carnival for the community for several years, but I had never attended. It is a well supported event and great for the community and residents alike. There was a fire truck, a moon walk, carnival games, popcorn, nachos and snow cones, all for free. And of course many of the residents were outside in costume handing out candy to the young Trick or Treaters. This brought joy to young and old alike!

medical device depot

I've never been to Medical Device Depot.

While I have no need of medical devices, it is always good to know that there are places where these devices can be purchased. It is something I really never actually thought about, but it is important that clinics and hospitals be equipped with the proper supplies. And so when time comes to furnish medical equipment like bovie electrosurgical generators, ambulatory BP monitors, centrifuges, defibrillators and the many other supplies that patients can take for granted, it's good to know where to go!

Hawaii

I've never been to Hawaii.

Hawaii sounds like such a beautiful, fun place to visit. I have always dreamt of laying on the beaches watching the beautiful sunset in Hawaii. But, of course, it costs just a little too much than I can afford. I have always wondered what Hawaii weather is like. I'm sure it must be very hot there. But, there is a good solution to the heat. Use a reliable fan, like the Hunter ceiling fans, and you can stay nice and cool on your vacation!

I've never been on a hosted short term mission trip.

While I have been on several mission trips, I've never been part of a team that was hosted/led by an outside group. There are several who support just such trips from college aged teams to multi-generational family groups. I think this would be a good way to go, as the housing and meal arrangements are all lined out ahead of time and the group can focus on the mission work to be done.

I've never been to purchase an iPad.

But we are considering getting one for our son for his high school graduation next summer. As soon as the iPad came out, that is what I wanted to do. My husband likes the idea, but also liked the idea of waiting till the Pad had been out at least a year. He says that is a better time to buy them, rather than when they are first released. We will also have to be sure to check into getting an ipad warranty to go along with the purchase. We want to make sure everything works just right with it when our son goes to college.

10K Open Water Swim

I've never been to a 10K open water swim.

I am not sure I've even ever swam a mile in open water. I can't imagine swimming six! But it seems that now there is a 10K open water swim in the Olympics, more people are getting involved in these type races. Unfortunately, I heard about one swimmer who died this past weekend in just such a race in Dubai. The cause has not been determined but it is known that the water temperature was high and that the swimmer overexerted himself. Hopefully this unfortunate death will lead to better regulations and safety precautions in future races.

I've never been to Hollywood.

Most people wonder how movie stars make their faces look so clean and flawless. Even though they won't admit it, most movie stars had acne problems as a kid, just like everyone else. Then I can have a clean, pretty face, too.

Century Ride

I've never been on a Century Ride.

A Century Ride is a 100 mile bicycle ride. My husband just signed up for one. Maybe one day I will be able to ride that far. The problem for me is that you have to make it to a certain cut off point by a certain time or else be routed to a shorter distance. (I don't know if all rides are like that.) I hope my husband makes it in time and gets to finish the full 100 miles.

This seems to be a new craze in exercise. I know it is a type of dance form. My mother in law enjoys going to her Zumba class and I've seen several other ladies who enjoy it as well. I've never been to Oklahoma Christian University.

But, like any other incoming freshman, I am both excited and nervous at the same time.  It is a whole new experience.  One thing I want to make sure I have under control when I get there is my skin, because I imagine freshman get enough of a hard time anyway.  I don't need any acne to complicate that.  Thankfully, there is a new acne solution that can keep me looking good and feeling comfortable when I go away.

But early Saturday morning, I headed out there for the start of the Bike Around the Bay cycling event. It was lots of fun. The volunteers were great throughout the entire course. We started at Fort Anahuac, which is "the site of the first armed confrontation between Anglo-Texans and Mexican troops, on June 10-12, 1832." (Handbook of Texas Online) It was a nice starting point for the 840 riders setting out to bike around the bay.

Bike Around the Bay

I've never been to Bike Around the Bay.

I had been thinking of doing this long distance cycling event ever since I heard about it. But knowing that I could only do one day of it, I decided against it. I found out earlier this week that a friend of mine who had already registered had decided to drop the second day and only ride the first day of the event. So I decided to take another look at the event. I found out today that they are accepting riders on the day of the event. So I sent an email asking if there would be a prorated price for one day riders. He told me that he would give me the original early registration fee. So...I am in! Tomorrow I am going to do the first day of the Bike Around the Bay Tour-77.8 miles!

This past weekend, we participated in our city's local Race for the Cure in the effort to raise money for breast cancer awareness and local breast cancer health care. We were looking forward to the event and knew it was a big deal. But we were nowhere prepared for the number of people who took part in the event! There were thousands of folks involved. The run was more of a walk and the walk was more of a stroll. Even getting there had traffic backed up for miles! I had to go to the bathroom before we ever even arrived. When I got the chance to stand in a long line for port-a-potties, due to the large crowds I opted to wait. By the time I finally got the chance to find a restroom (four hours later!) I knew I did not need a colon cleansing pill! I am happy though that there were so many people involved.

ghost tour

I've never been on a ghost tour.

All October long, there are three different tours offered in Galveston, TX, one of the "most haunted citites" in America. This can be attributed to the legends surrounding the cannibalistic Karankawa indians. There are also legends of Jean Lafitte and his band of pirates. And there are the many who died in the Great Storm of 1900, and those who lost lives during the mayhem of smuggling liquor during prohibition...as you can see, there are many reasons to take a ghost tour of Galveston Island. This month there are three different tours offered: Ashton Villa's "Are We Haunted?" Tours, Haunted Harbor Tours Aboard SEAGULL II, and "Spirits of the Past" Cemetery Tours. Each tour is offered at different times, allowing you the chance to discover the presence of the dead on the island.

I have to say though, our kids were not worried in the least about how they looked, or worrying about extreme weight loss pills; they were busy capturing a few small fish, a crab and a trumpet fish,  and collecting sand crabs and sea shells.

But now that my hair has been falling out for years, I am starting to realize that I would rather have thicker hair than be losing my hair! I have heard there are hair loss products for women. But that is just what my son and I have been invited to. This day is supposed to be geared toward helping high school seniors learn all they need to know for their upcoming college admissions. It is like a crash course in essay writing, requesting reference letters, prepping for admissions tests and a timeline of what to do and when to do it. The kids also get a Dave and Buster's Power Card!

Wii Fit

I've never been to workout with the Wii Fit.

I saw the most hilarious video parody for Wii Fit yesterday. I doubt the makers of Wii and the Fit videos would appreciate the humor involved. I've never seen the Wii Fit or tried it out. I do know a few folks who use/have used it. For the most part, it probably is better to combine that workout with Diet pills fat burners and good healthy eating habits. Maybe Wii Fit can be an part of a healthy lifestyle.

America's Got Talent

I've never been to America's Got Talent.

We have watched many of this season's contestants. Tonight they will announce the one grand prize winner. After that I heard the top ten acts are going on a nationwide tour. One of the cities they will perform at is Houston. I may have to check into tickets for that. I know my kids and nephews would enjoy seeing the performance.

SavageMan Tri

I've never been to the SavageMan tri.

This triathlon takes place in Maryland. The scenery looks stunning, as it takes place in September and the leaves are already turning their fall colors. This triathlon is a tough one. It is in a hilly area and has earned the name "Savage" for that reason. Even the shorter length tri has enough hills to maintain its "savage" name. Doing triathlons is one of the best weight loss formulas for me, and they're fun too! Maybe one day I'll be able to join in the SavageMan tri.

I had never been to swimplan.com before.

I learned about this site today where you can get free swim workouts. You can get them customized to your level. When you first sign up, you will be under the Premium account. This will expire in fourteen days, but you can still log in for the free workouts after that. I am hoping this will be a great place to find some variety in my workouts.

hidden beach area

I've never been to a certain hidden little beach area.

My sister came upon a small beach area nearby. It seems as if it might be part of a community but there were very few people there yesterday evening. I don't know if it often gets crowded, but it looks like the perfect place to practice open water swimming! There was a sign posted for non-residents to pay, but there was no one or no where to pay. I am going to drive over and check it out again, and hopefully get in an open water swim.

They are baked throughout the day in small batches to assure that your cupcake will be fresh!

tree sculpture tour

I've never been on a tree sculpture tour.

When hurricane Ike blew through Galveston Island, he left downed trees in his wake. Even though much of Galveston's tree canopy was lost, Island artists found a way to resurrect the trees into images of beauty. Many of the downed trees were turned into gorgeous works of art-tree sculptures! They are located throughout the island in people's yards and gardens and in area parks (photos and a tour guide.) These trees give a victorious feeling of beauty and regrowth to an area devastated yet rebuilding.

treatment center

I've never been to a treatment center.

I have seen ads for many. I came across one today that specializes in the underlying causes of addictions. This facility provides dual diagnosis to not only help patients break their addictions, but to find and deal with the underlying causes that drove them to addiction in the first place. This sounds like the way to help patients to reach a full recovery and to be able to deal with life as it continues to happen outside the treatment facility.

transcripts

I had never been to pick up my kids' transcripts before.

It is actually not a problem. Just get in contact with your child's school registrar to find out the times they work. Then request the child's transcript. If it is an official transcript they will stamp it and seal it in an envelope. This is to only be opened by the accepting college/school. The official transcript will likely cost you a fee-ours was $2. An unofficial transcript is also available (though probably not accepted by colleges) and is usually printed out for free.

college book renter

I've never been to rent college textbooks before.

I was thinking that it would be a good idea to just rent a book for a semester and sure enough, there are several sites available that do just that! I found a site that has my son's books for rent and/or sale cheaper than I expected. There are rentals available from 30-130 days at reasonable rates. I also found that to buy the book was half what it would have cost us locally. Since he will likely need the book for two semesters, I chose to purchase the book, which was only $9 more than renting it for the semester. His other book we rented for $10 for the semester.

When renting, you are allowed minimal highlighting while using the book to study. And the shipping is free as is the return shipping. They are also looking for students to be campus representatives. These kids can then earn certificates for future book rentals/purchases as well as bonuses.

They were then given another clue to another destination. It was great fun for all involved (in spite of someone calling the cops on the "teens loitering around Chik Fil a!") They do hope to get over to see the whales. Driving around and seeing everything they can in the time they have to stay is the main plan of their trip. We saw Toy Story 3, then Inception and to finish out the month, Despicable Me. It was nice to spend time together as a family watching good movies. bankruptcy

I've never been to declare bankruptcy.

And I just learned something important about doing so. Even though declaring bankruptcy erases some debts like mortgage and credit card debt, it apparently does NOT erase college loan debt! This is important knowledge for college students and their parents. As it becomes increasingly harder to pay for college, declaring bankruptcy once out will not likely help the student. They could end up defaulting on loans and effectively ruin their credit. Better yet is to find an affordable college and be able to work and steadily pay off any loans taken out to cover the cost of higher education.

However, a couple of M*A*S*H lovers have placed a replica of the iconic "fingerpost" at the locale. There has been talk about adding more to the area to commemorate the beloved series.

Mens Blog Talk

I've never been to Mens Blog Talk.

I just found out about this website, which I think will be a great place for guys to drop in and find out the answers to all the questions they have about products. Ok, maybe not all the questions, but they can find out from guys who have used a certain product whether it gave what was promised. It basically gives an overview of a product and then gives "thumbs up" and "thumbs down" counts from guys who have voted on the products. Whether you are questioning buying a product like P90X or have questions about extenze side effects, the Mens Blog Talk seems like a place to find out what the guys think.

stone massage

I've never been to get a stone massage.

I have heard that the stone massage is considered therapeutic due to the minerals found in the stones from the sea. Stones of different sizes, weights, shapes and even colors are used. For example, a large weighty stone is thought to be ideal for the stomach area. Many people like to find their own stones for use in massage.

prescription glasses

I've never been to get prescription glasses.

Both my husband and my daughter are supposed to wear glasses. I have yet to need them, but I feel like with all the reading I do on the computer, it won't be too long until I need some. Of course, I will look for the best prices available when the time comes. I have no idea what style I would choose, but I know price would be a huge factor. Finding discount prescription glasses would be ideal.

ride in a Ferrari

I've never been to ride in a Ferrari.

On June 12, 2011, The Classy Chassis Car Show at Reliant Stadium will offer a "Ride & Drive" from 9-4 in the parking lot of Reliant Stadium. For a minimum donation of $30 to the Shriners' Hospital, you could get a ride in a Ferrari, Lamborghini, or an Aston Martin. I have to say, that would be fun for a lot of folks. I don't know which car I would choose, but if they would have Tom Selleck as the Ferrari driver….

buy insurance online

I've never been to buy insurance online.

If we are not careful though, we are going to be in some really deep debt due to our lack of insurance. I am still recovering from a recent foot surgery. And I just found out that my daughter sprained her arm at church camp. Thankfully it is not broken and the camp's insurance covered the cost of the x-rays. But we are going to have to find somewhere to get some affordable insurance. Thankfully there are places online where we can get some free quotes!

indoor skydiving

I've never been indoor skydiving.

I saw a piece on tv about indoor skydiving. This is basically a wind tunnel driven by a huge fan. Students go through a short training session and then are brought in for about three minutes of "flying" time. This is an activity that is open to all ages and abilities. It sounds like a great activity for families with kids of all ages. It would be a really cool way to spend some family time together and would likely be a great memory for families who try this new activity.

Who Knew?

I had never been to Who Knew? before.

I found this fun site today. It is filled with interesting tidbits of information. For example, the first Friday in June is National Donut Day. You can even find out how donuts came about. I also learned about some accidental inventions. Nothing like the best acne treatment, but more like the telephone and penicillin!

America's Got Talent

I've never been to America's Got Talent.

I have seen the show some on television. There are some pretty cool acts and there are some pretty scary/gruesome acts. And there are some there that seem to think they have more talent than they exhibit on stage! We have enjoyed watching some of the acts together as a family. Others I just turn away from. At least it is a way for me to pass the time while recuperating! And it is a program we can all agree on as a family.

acne treatment

I've never been to an acne treatment.

I never had much of a problem with acne growing up, so I guess I never really had to deal much with how to treat acne. I would even say that I have as much or more trouble with acne now as a middle aged woman than I did as a teen. I guess once I get the other side of this state of hormonal fluctuation I will be able to maintain acne free skin.

Miami Zoo

I've never been to the Miami Zoo.

I did see some animals from the Miami Zoo on the Early Show today. One of the zoo handlers brought in a three week old baby leopard. Very cute. But of course he stressed how big they get and that they are indeed wild animals and not pets. Then he brought out a four week old white tiger. Super cute! She even drank out of a bottle! They stated how much the white tiger population in the wild has gone down over this century. I also learned that the white tiger is not another species of tiger but just a mutation of genes. I think tigers are beautiful creatures, both white and the traditional coloring.

I had never been to pre-op before.

Yesterday I was doing ok before my surgery. Until I went into the pre-op. It was sort of like an ER with several beds and pull around curtains. Everyone was nice enough, but I still got really nervous. All went well and now I am home recouping. I am remembering my exercises, my vitamins, my ice therapy and my boot. I need a little more rest but following all instructions I am hoping to be back on my feet again soon!

Buffalo Bayou Hike and Bike Trails

I've never been on the Buffalo Bayou Hike and Bike Trails.

I had no idea that Houston offers a contiguous system of bike trails totaling 20 miles, though it appears that some may still be under construction. They have repaved some of the trail from Shepherd to Sabine. Seventy-five trees were also planted to help add some shade to the trail area. You can download a trail map here. And of course after surgery there won't be any exercise for a time. I guess I better find Lipofuze or some other fat burner to use in the mean time! Hopefully I won't gain too much weight.

I've never been to the World Expo.

This year's affair takes place in Shanghai, China. There are pavilions of each country represented at the Expo, allowing visitors a glimpse into the way others around the world live. I guess it is something akin to a World's Fair or even Disney's Epcot World Showcase. The event in Shanghai takes place from May to October of this year. The city has prepared for thousands of visitors, upgrading sidewalks and even expanding its subway system, adding stops to service the fair. Included in the over 200 pavilions are Switzerland's resembling a map with a rooftop chairlift, Macau resembling a walk through bunny, and the United Arab Emirates portrayed as a sand dune.

And now, new rules are being put in place to prevent many of the problems invasion by tourists can bring. There is a call for limiting the amount of tourist ships allowed, using only ships with fortified hulls, and a ban on those that use heavy oil. There is one ship being built, the Le Boreal, that will hold 199 passengers, and has an indoor heated pool, steam rooms and private balconies.

office tests

I've never been to office testing.

Today I took some tests to see if I qualify for a summer job at our local public library. I have not had any formal testing done like that before. First I had to pass a typing test. The requirement was 30 wpm. I was nervous but have been practicing with some online typing tests. My result was 64 wpm (thanks to all my practice blogging!) Good enough. Then I had to take three basic office knowledge tests: basic arithmetic, office vocabulary and grammar and vocabulary. I missed one on the math (I think I double clicked, effectively missing a question). I got 100% on the office vocabulary and only 90% on the grammar section! There were a couple of things I truly didn’t know and some that I just flat out missed. I think I did good enough though and hopefully it will work out for me to get the library job.

She said it has to last through all three kids! Luckily they live in a small town. Now she just has to find out about about insuring the teen driver! My friend found the best insurance quotes came with insuring the teen on her own older car rather than on her mom's new car. She is also looking to save some money with the good student discount. Every little bit helps when insuring teen drivers! Now if we can just survive this phase….

I've never been to Faerie Fantasies before.

This small shop is located in Pearland, Texas. While looking for a local distributor of reusable feminine menstrual products, I found this shop's website. It is a very small shop in a field off the main road. But there are signs to help direct you to the store. The owner is not there every day but will open the shop "on demand" if you give her a call before you come by. She appears to be young but friendly and cares about the world she is living in and trying to make it a better place. There is not a lot of stock but enough if you are going for a particular item. The shop is clean. She is stocking things like menstrual cups, eco-friendly soaps and lotions, and reusable gift bags. Her prices are very reasonable, competitive even and I hope that she is able to make a go of her newly founded business.

the spot

I had never been to The Spot before.

After our long training day, we headed to The Spot on Galveston Island. This is apparently a favorite spot for quite a number of folks. Though the line was out the door when we arrived, it moved quickly and there was plenty of seating, indoors and out. You order your burger (or whatever else you want) and head to your table. Once your order is ready you can add whatever fixings you like.

One specialty item they offer is something I'd never heard of, "frickles", or fried pickles. I am not much into pickles but I did try one of my friends. Um, no thanks! Even my husband, who loves pickles was not impressed. The burgers were good, as was the iced tea. It was a great place to eat following a good day of training.

Singapore Flyer

I had never been to the Singapore Flyer before.

I am not big on Ferris Wheels, so was really not planning to ride. But when my sister got discounted tickets for everyone in our group, well, how could I resist! And we were all trying to help the 5 year be brave, so we had to show our bravery too…

We went as a group of 12 or 13 to ride the world's highest observation wheel.

We were happy to find out that we all got to ride together in one car. It was not a bad ride, though my fear of heights kept me pretty still. My daughter enjoyed doing all the picture taking and poking a little fun of me for being scared.

It took about 20 minutes to complete one rotation. We enjoyed seeing the city lights (we rode at night) and the cars.

There was some debate as to whether it would be prettier in the daytime or not.
