Hannah Montana 3D concert movie

I've never been to see the Hannah Montana 3D concert movie.

I wanted to get tickets for my daughter to see her at the rodeo. But it is on a night we could not attend. Not that I would have been able to get the tickets before they sold out...

So I've done the next best thing. Yes, I bought tickets to see the new Hannah Montana 3D concert movie. The film is playing for one week. It was filmed at an earlier concert. The 3D effect is supposed to help audiences feel more like they are at a live concert.

Titanic exhibit

I've never been to a Titanic exhibit.

I learned earlier this week that beginning today at Moody Gardens in Galveston, there will be an exhibit on the Titanic. Patrons will receive a mock boarding pass to help recreate the feel of boarding the ship in 1912. Each boarding pass will have the name of an actual passenger on board at the time of its sailing. The journey is presented chronologically, from construction, to life on board, to the final demise and the artifact recovery. Visitors will view authentically recreated rooms, touch an iceberg, and hear stories of the passengers themselves. I am looking forward to being able to visit this exhibit. It will be brought to the Gardens by RMS Titanic, the only company permitted by law to recover items from the wreckage.

buying a car

I've never been to buy a car.

That's right. We have not owned that many cars actually, but my husband has always taken care of that. I am hoping that within the next year, we will be purchasing a new car. Now I want a nice car or SUV. My husband probably wants some sort of truck. And since my son is going to be of driving age soon, he probably wants some sort of sports car, complete with a car spoiler!

Into a Volcano

I've never been into a volcano.

But today I got to take a virtual tour inside of one led by volcanologist Donna O'Meara. We read her book Into The Volcano and learned of her venture to living her passion of studying volcanoes. Her book is full of great photos that she has taken. She had my kids captivated with her descriptive story of some of her adventures studying certain volcanoes, including Kilauea and Stromboli. She has climbed at least 100 erupting volcanoes. Her and her husband were even married on some of the newest land on earth (at that time) wearing tennis shoes for a quick escape from the heat radiating up!

Amazon.com with coupons

I've never been to Amazon.com with coupons before.

Sure, I've shopped at Amazon tons of times. But I've never been able use Amazon coupons to get discounts on the things I love to get. Since I keep a wish list on Amazon of items I'd like to buy, maybe I should add a few of those things which could be purchased with the coupon codes.

YMCA camp

I've never been to a YMCA camp.

When I was young, I don't know if we lived near a Y. But we have just had a new one open up near us this past year, and many families are involved in the programs provided by the YMCA. There are several summer "away" camps sponsored by the Y in our area, Camp Pine Tree, Camp Cullen and Camp Hamman. They are divided based on age and activities. Kids as young as 5 can attend and two camps accept campers up to age 16. There are tons of activities to keep the kids busy. There are the usual arts and crafts, campfires and getting in tune with nature, but today's kids have some really great choices to make in their camp activities. There is horse back riding and canoeing, ropes courses, rock climbing, tubing, sailing, wake boarding and video editing just to name a few! These kids will get a lot of fun out of their two weeks at camp!

Valentine's Day romance??

I've not been to buy a Valentine's Day present yet this year.

It is still a month away, so I feel I've got some time. But these things do sneak up on me...I guess after being married for twenty years and being stuck in the middle of raising teens, Valentine's Day romance is pretty not on the top of my list right now...chocolate covered strawberries, silk chemises and candle light are difficult to envision when you are fighting traffic to get your kids to two different places at the same time, answering questions to two other chatter boxes, planning a dinner menu, wondering when you will get to the store to get the ingredients, searching for money to pay the toll booth, wondering if there is such a thing as a laundry fairy...and the list goes on. Maybe a little romance will show up here by Valentine's Day...

heather on her travels

I had never been to heather on her travels blog before.

As I have been really slow in my blogging these days, I missed a comment a few days ago about heather and her time last year sleeping near a smoking volcano ! I cannot even imagine. But this seems to be the MO for heather. She is a world traveler and her blog on her travels is really lovely. I can't wait to head back and check out some of her older posts.

Adidas golf equipment

I've never been to buy Adidas golf equipment.

Since my husband loves golf and I love Adidas, it seems like the perfect gift for me to get him. Usually, the only golf related stuff I buy him is shirts, maybe some balls, or a glove. I will always ask what he likes first though, just to be sure I get the right things. As for me going golfing with him, I don't like to tee up. I am happy to caddy and maybe putt a time or two.

volkswalk

I've never been to a volkswalk.

I had not heard this term before, but I love the idea! Coming up this weekend is a local volkssporting event , a volkswalk. These are family friendly events which are open to anyone of any age (children under 12 must be with an adult.) It is a free event. You choose your own start time (within the given time frame) and participate in the 10K walk. There is a 5K walk for those looking for a shorter hike. You can go at a leisurely pace and enjoy the historic sights and sounds of your local route. The route is monitored with check points throughout. It sounds like a wonderful way to spend some time together enjoying local points of interest you may have otherwise overlooked.

Capulin Volcano National Monument

I've never been to Capulin Volcano National Monument.

This is located in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains of New Mexico. There are trails to follow that will allow you to see inside the extinct volcano. The lower trail is only about .2 miles and allows you to go inside a vent to see inside the volcano. The longer upper trail winds one mile around the crater rim. You can see evidence of the eruptions throughout the volcanic hills by the lava rock located on the hills and mesas. The trails are self guided and fairly easy to hike.

Direct Buy

I've never been to Direct Buy.

My parents did go up a few weeks ago to check out an area directbuy. My mom is looking at new flooring. She has had white carpet for the last several years, maybe even ten. But now that she has young grandkids that live with her, I think the white carpet is not surviving so well. She is looking into getting tile throughout the house. Using Direct Buy could help her save a bundle of money.

San Jacinto College Theater Auditions

I've never been to San Jacinto College for theater auditions before.

Tonight my daughter went to try out for The Sound of Music. She had lots of fun and it was good for her to audition at a place other than where she has been doing most of her acting. We won't know til later this week if she gets in or not. Perhaps not, as her size seems to be right in between what he is looking for...but she had a good experience. She did get held with the second group to sing, so that was good. It would be pretty exciting if she did get cast....

Tungurahua Volcano

I've never been to Tungurahua volcano.

I was surprised to see the article today telling about Tungurahua erupting today. We have been reading about volcanoes and to see this article telling how the Ecuadorian volcano has been active since early this year and today was recorded spewing ash and rock was a big surprise. Thankfully earlier this week volcanologists warned villagers to evacuate. Today's eruption sent ash and steam about a mile and a half into the sky.

Unusual Weddings

I've never been to an usual wedding.

I have been to a few outdoors, but that is about as exotic a wedding I've ever attended. I know these days folks are stretching their imaginations when it comes to unusual weddings. Maybe a wedding in a castle, or on a hill top or at a baseball field is for some folks. I've even heard of couples getting married while bungee jumping! (I guess the bride wasn't holding any wedding flowers during that one!) Maybe a hot air balloon wedding, or a sky diving wedding, or even a scuba diving wedding could be just the thing to set your wedding apart from everyone elses.

Brighton Wolves

I had never been to an international high school basketball game before.

Earlier this week, my son had a basketball game in the town in which we used to live. My niece came out to see him. She told us of an event that was taking place right after my son's game. The junior varsity team of her high school was playing an Australian team. This team, the Brighton Wolves, were touring the US. I had not heard of this team before, so I looked them up and found their website . They are on tour this month to California and Texas. What an awesome opportunity for these young athelets. And it was pretty cool to see the attitude the hosting school had towards them as well.

Joshua Bell

I've never been to see Joshua Bell play.

Actually, I had never heard of Joshua Bell until last week. My husband did a lesson at church about how we often miss Jesus, even though he is right in front of us. He used a story about world famous violinist Joshua Bell. He apparently dressed incognito and played his violin in a Washington D.C. subway. The story is told how many people walked past, never noticing the man they would normally have to pay hundreds of dollars to see and hear perform. You can easily see the analogy drawn from this story.

After never having heard of Joshua Bell, I have heard about him three times over the course of this last week. I see his site has his tour schedule up. I will have to see if there is a performance in my area.
