evening at the hair salon

I've never been to the hair salon in the evening.

I have never gotten my hair cut in the evening before. So tonight when I went into the salon, I was surprised when I was offered a glass of wine! I have always been offered something to drink during the day when I've gone, some water or a soda. And since I do not drink alcohol I was rather taken aback by the question! Then I looked around and noticed how many of the ladies had their glasses of wine! I just knew my neighbors would be happy to have that glass of wine for me.

When I was checking out I was asked if I wanted to make my next appointment for about 6 or 7 weeks away. I said no. And then mentioned that would be just about the time my son leaves for college. The stylist told me she would have that glass of wine waiting for me when I next come in!

tabernacle

I've never been to see the tabernacle.

Now the Tabernacle experience is coming to Houston, TX and I just may make it over to see the mock up. Brought by First Colony Church, a life sized full scale replica of the tabernacle is available for tours to see just what the moveable worship area was like.

The interactive, audio-based tour will cost $5 per person. Tours start from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. June 24-28 and June 30-July 3; also from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on June 29 and from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on July 4. The tour  takes about 45 minutes. Large groups can schedule in advance for morning tours, beginning at 9 a.m. Tour groups will receive a discounted entrance fee. To inquire about group arrangements, please go to firstcolonychurch.org.

Branson

I've never been to Branson, MO.

I keep thinking that one of these days we'll take the trip. I hear there are a lot of good shows and fun things to do and see. I think that if we do go I will most want to see the Noah show and maybe the Titanic show.

groupon

I had never been to Groupon before.

But after hearing my dad talk about it I considered it. And then a friend sent me some info and let me know that we could sign up for our home town as well as the area where our son will be going to college. So we can find good deals in both places. I decided to give it a try. I have already made a couple of purchases. There really are some good deals to be had. Just be sure to read the "fine print" to make sure it is close by or that will really will use it before the expiration date. I also learned that you can download a Groupon app for your smart phone. I am not exactly sure how it works, maybe like a bluetooth barcode scanner where you download the coupon onto your phone and then you take it in to the merchant who scans it from your phone.

pedicure

I've never been for a pedicure.

I just read that 50% of women ages 18-25 surveyed said they had received a professional pedicure before they turned 25. While I have never been for one myself, I did glance through the list of pedicure "do's and don'ts" to find out some tips. While a professional pedicure is  not a necessity, proper foot care and hygiene is.

graduation recital

I've never been to a graduation recital.

Tonight we have been invited to a recital honoring our son and another graduate. I really am not sure what to expect but I know that the couple performing are being very nice to want to honor our children in the way that they know how. I hope the kids can understand that while these good people may not have much, what they do have, they are offering.

insurance for four

I've never been to get insurance for four.

Now that my daughter will be starting driver's ed, we need insurance coverage for all four of us! This is a rather daunting thought. I am hopeful that using sites like this will help us find the best and most affordable rates for a family of four.
