Little Graceland

I've never been to Little Graceland.

This Elvis museum is located in Los Fresnos (named for the "fresnos", the ash trees.) It seems to be a privately owned collection. The owner served in the army with Elvis while stationed in Germany. Open on weekends, visitors can see a large collection of Elvis Presley memorabilia, photos, watches, more. During the year, there are also Elvis impersonator contests.

Nederland

I've never been to Nederland.

Some good friends of ours recently packed their moving trucks for Nederland, so I am sure there will be a time that I make it over to this "Dutch settlement".

In the 1800s, Arthur Stillwell constructed a railroad from Kansas City to Lake Sabine. Since his financial backing came from Holland, he chose to give many of the towns along the line Dutch names. Some Dutch came and settled in Nederland, as did folks from all over the U.S. Today in this small Texas town, when I go to visit my friends, I will likely want to stop by and see the La Maison Des Acadiens Museum which pays tribute to the French settlers who came from South Louisiana. Also I would like to stop by the Windmill Museum. This museum was built to preserve the Dutch heritage. Here there is a windmill with 25 foot blades, artifacts from the town's early days, memorabilia of singer Tex Ritter who lived some time in Nederland, and the 1952 Olympic gold medal won by Nederland native W. F. Buddy Davis.

Indian Island

I've never been to Indian Island.

But this past week I was transported to this small island off the coast of England. The island is shaped like a man's head. I don't know if this island exists anywhere outside of Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None. In the book, it is a very small island where a series of ten murders take place, with no murderer to be found! It is an amusing book that will take you to Indian Island and right into the middle of the suspense.

buying a memory stick

I've never been to buy a memory stick.

Now this is not a flash drive like I thought. This is what you use for cameras and video games to add memory. I know that in video games, extra memory is important. I learned this when my son first bought a used game console from a friend. His friend kept his memory stick. So if my son wanted to play and be able to save his games, he needed the extra memory. If you like to do the same, extra memory sticks will be important to you to. Luckily, they are fairly affordable and can even be purchased refurbished.

Toyota Center

I've never been to the Toyota Center.

This is the newest stadium in Houston and the home of the Houston Rockets, Comets and Aeros. It was finished in 2003 with the first event hosted being a Fleetwood Mac concert! The stadium can hold from 18,000-19,000 people, depending on the event. Tomorrow I will go there for the first time.

My son and I have been chosen to be “extras” in a commercial tomorrow! Now this is not just any old commercial. This is an Adidas commercial! And we will get paid to go watch some of the Houston Rockets! The pay is very small, but it’s only a few hours and my son is so excited!!

Frost vs. Nixon

I've never been to see Frost vs. Nixon.

This is a play coming to Houston in October. I just ordered tickets for my son and I. It is based on the televised interview in which David Frost elicited an apology from Richard Nixon. I don't remember much about Watergate and my son is intrigued by it. I think it will be an informative show that we will both enjoy.

Around the World Cruise

I've never been on an Around the World Cruise.

While I was going through some travel sites today, I came across some awesome looking Around the World Cruises. These itineraries look amazing! Some start in Europe, some in the states, some in Australia. I would love to take one of these slow boats to China, or anywhere, and everywhere, else in the world. One that caught my eye starts in Los Angeles and end in Dubai. I know that a trip like this takes a good deal of budgeting and planning, but just maybe one day, I will be on one of these Around the World Crusises!

Water Wall

I've never been to the Water Wall.

Built in 1985, this wall of water drops thousands of gallons of water 64 feet every minute. It is situated near Houston's Galleria shopping center. I've been to this mall, but never seen the water wall. It is said you can even see it while driving past. Many locals and tourists love to visit the wall. It is even reported to be a popular wedding spot.

Beijing

I've never been to Beijing.

But this Friday I will be transported to Beijing and the Olympic games. We always like to tune in to see what the athletes have accomplished. I am sure this year will be no different. I love seeing the different events and the performance of these athletes. I am glad the Olympics will be airing on network TV. I love being able to just tune in to see what the latest standings are. If I can't be there in person, I at least want to see all the action on TV.
