turkey trot

I've never been to a turkey trot.

This is seemingly the name for any running event held Thanksgiving morning. This year at a local high school, there will be the first annual area turkey trot. It is a 5K event and the cost is only $5. And if you bring 5 canned food items, the fee is waived! We are looking forward to doing this event as it is cheap and close to home. And it seems to be a great way to start Thanksgiving morning.

Morocco

I've never been to Morocco.

Visiting Casa Blanca is something I know many people would love to do! I did not know that it used to be a pirate base and that it was also destroyed by an earthquake. It would be interesting to visit the Hassan II mosque, claimed to be second in size only to Islam's most important site, Mecca.

In the modern capital of Rabat I could visit the Palais Royal, the home of the royal family in Morocco, the Hassan Tower, the Mohammed V Mausoleum, and the Musee Archaeologique (Museum of Antiquities). Next, would be Meknes with the Bab El Mansour gate and its Corinthian columns. I can't forget Moulay Idriss, Fes, Rissani and the Merzouga Dunes.

Maybe I could even afford to buy some Moroccan furniture to have shipped back as a souvenir of the trip! Or if not, I guess I could find some Moroccan furniture here at home and save on the shipping!

half marathon

I've never been to a half marathon before.

Neither have I participated in one. But I just signed myself up for one on New Year's Day! Yes, in just six weeks I will be running (jogging)/ walking 13.1 miles. This is only after one "trial" run of just over six miles. That is the most I've ever run before. But with the run(jog)/walk method I think I will be able to finish this New Year's Half Marathon!

Thanksgiving Day Cruise

I've never been to a Thanksgiving Day Cruise.

Next week three Thanksgiving Day buffet cruises will be available on Clear Lake and Galveston Bay. The cruise lasts two hours and includes a traditional Thanksgiving meal menu. You and your family can dine while floating past the lovely yachts and homes around the Clear Lake and Kemah areas. Partake of the delicious offerings of ham, turkey, stuffing and gravy, broccoli, candied sweet potatoes and assorted pies and cakes. Adult prices are $49 and children are $39.

motorcycle accident lawyer

I've never been to a motorcycle accident lawyer.

And I hope I never have to. My husband has had his motorcycle for nearly three years now. He has only had one time where he laid it down. And that was turning into a parking lot covered in leaves. He always wears a helmet, thankfully. That is one of my biggest requests. I know that one day it can happen-I've seen it happen too many times to people. I am thankful that there are motorcycle accident lawyers Los Angeles to New York. But I just hope we can avoid ever having to visit one.

Upcoming classes will concentrate on ballet and Pilates. The classes are open to community members. Cost for each class is $25 and are held on certain Saturdays from 9am-12pm.

I've never been to Frozen in Thyme.

This is a place where you can get your dinner dilemmas solved. You use their fresh ingredients to prepare meals in their kitchen that you can take home and freeze. Then you know that you always have something ready for dinner. You don't have to resort to last minute fast food dinners. The menus vary by month. This month you can choose from meals like baked rigatoni, cornbread stuffed chicken, flounder, lemongrass chicken, and pasta quattro. And special this month, you can get your thanksgiving dinner! Choose from herb brined turkey or pork loin chops. Sides include garlic mashed potatoes, pecan stuffing, gravy, corn, sweet potato au gratin, green beans and rolls. They even offer appetizers and desserts! (diet pills are another story!)

Body Worlds 2

I've never been to Body Worlds 2.

I actually never saw Body Worlds 1 either! This is a fascinating look at actual human bodies preserved through "plastination". Plastination is a process where body fluids and soluble fats are extracted from a specimen and replaced through vacuum force with resins and polymers. This process, invented by Dr. Gunther von Hagens allows viewers to see inside real human bodies and to learn about the function of a healthy body as well as the damage that can be done to it through chosen behaviors. All these can be seen at the Body Worlds 2 exhibit. There are over 20 whole bodies on display along with healthy and unhealthy organs, body pieces and slices. The feature display on our brain shows developments in brain function and disease and disorders, performance and improvement. Body Worlds 2 will be at Houston Museum of Natural Science through

Sync Swim

I've never been to Sync Swim.

This is a seminar for parents of teens and others who work with teens. It helps to define the youth culture of our day. It shows what our teens face today, especially with so much media input. It enables parents with tools and resources to better communicate with their teens. The seminar is a ministry of Harding University. You can invite them to come speak to your group. Check out the website for contact information. I will be attending a Sync Swim seminar this weekend. I am looking forward to all the useful information in raising teens.

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts

I've never been to Krispy Kreme Doughnuts.

Yep, even though I did vote yesterday, I missed out on most of the free treats offers! We went to Ben & Jerry's but they did not start giving out free ice cream til 5 pm and I could not come back at that time. And the place we thought was Krispy Kreme is now something else, so we guess they moved or went out of business. And I don't like coffee. So I got my free Starbucks and gave it to my son who filled it with plenty of milk and sugar! I guess it's a good thing anyway to have missed out on the doughnut and ice cream. I mean CLA only goes so far in helping to keep the fat off! So maybe some other day I will make it over to a Krispy Kreme Doughnuts store!

For all voters tomorrow, Krispy Kreme is giving away a free star shaped doughnut, complete with red, white and blue sprinkles! Be sure to wear your "I Voted" sticker and go in for your free doughnut!
