R5K

I've never been to the R5K.

That is the Royal Caribbean 5K runs at one of the ports of call during a 7 day cruise.

While perusing ideas for our next cruise, we wanted to see what RC offered. Seeing this as one of the day's events at port was a pretty good idea to me! Here is the way it seems to work:

You take your cruise and the day you are in port at one of the R5K race sites, you will do the 5k run with others who have signed up to join in. I don't know if this involves only cruise line patrons or if other will be there too. There is a post race party and awards. This seems to leave time afterward for a little exploring of port (though I am not sure.)

While at sea you can take advantage of some other perks of this package including:

Private meet-and-greet sessions with high-profile racing athletes
Seminars and lectures with high-profile athletes
Personal training tips from experts
Speed tests onboard the track on your ship

The next upcoming events are the seven day cruise December 1 with the race taking place in Philipsburg, St Maarten and the seven day cruise March 10, 2013 with the race taking place in Falmouth, Jamaica.

I think I'd like to plan this itinerary on our next trip....

Foam Factory

I've never been to the Foam Factory.

It looks like a place my dad and I need to check out. They offer some nice looking packaging supplies. There are anti-static foam pieces, eggcrate foam pieces and even custom foam pieces. These look like the perfect ways to package our items we sell on eBay.

Zooma Women's Series Race

I've never been to a Zooma Women's Series Race.

The event is also stated to be open to both men and women.  It looks like a beautiful time of year and a beautiful place to do this run.

    Columbia Sportswear

I've never been to Columbia Sportswear.

They will be opening a new outlet store here next month. They have a good reputation for good quality clothes and great outdoor gear. I can't wait to see all the great products at discounted prices!

     That I'd like to see.

    guitar lessons

I've never been to guitar lessons.

Several kids in my family have though-including my son, my niece and my oldest nephew. They have learned a bit and I do wish that all of them had kept up their lessons as I do think it's important and a great skill to have for brain development and just for general enjoyment throughout life. As for me, I would not be able to tell the difference between a godin acs-sa slim guitar center or the the other brands that are made. Although I CAN tell the difference between an acoustic and an electric guitar!

    open seating dining

I've never been to open seating dining.

Of course I've only been on one cruise. On our next cruise we are booked for open seating. This sounds like a great option! It is open for us to come at any time during the dining hours and be seated at any open table. This eliminates the need to get there at a certain time and allows us to sit with different people every night.

    Garage Band

I've never been to a "garage band".

Though I have known several people who have started them. My cousin and uncle have what I guess you could call a "garage band". They have all their band equipment in the house. One bedroom alone is dedicated to all the garage band paraphernalia. I've seen guitars, acoustic and electric, drums, microphones and other stuff that all go along with garage bands. I am not sure if they have a graphic equalizer and recording devices. I do know my uncle has made us all some CDs so maybe they really do have everything they need for their very own garage band!
