Luxor

I've never been to Luxor, Egypt.

Modern Day Luxor is a great place to get a flavor of Ancient Egypt. It is known as the "world's greatest open air museum" because of its many ancient sites within close proximity. From Luxor, you can easily visit the Valley of the Kings, temple ruins and the Nile. It makes an excellent base for touring Upper Egypt.

Our word "luxury" comes to us from the magnificent city of Luxor. The palaces and temples were so extravagant that "luxury" has come to mean anything beautiful or grand.

That I'd like to see.

I didn't realize that the word luxury comes from Luxor, but it makes sense. Nice tidbit to pick up!
