I've never been to Direct Buy.
My parents did go up a few weeks ago to check out an area directbuy. My mom is looking at new flooring. She has had white carpet for the last several years, maybe even ten. But now that she has young grandkids that live with her, I think the white carpet is not surviving so well. She is looking into getting tile throughout the house. Using Direct Buy could help her save a bundle of money.
That I'd like to see.

To determine whether the high membership fees make joining worthwhile, you must have a ballpark of what you expect to spend on a project. If you plan to set a budget of $5,000 and you don't expect to make many/any more home furnishing purchases then spending $4500 on a membership is ridiculous.
I signed up for an open house and spoke on the phone with someone in their membership department. No matter how I asked the question, they would not tell me the range of membership fees ("Oh, we explain that at the open house"). I said that I was uncomfortable with that approach and "thank you and goodbye."
Infomercials are seductive. Don't be duped.
I see you are talking about home designing here. Direct Buy is a company which provides services in this area. Direct Buy is a members-only showroom and home design company. I did not happento have any misunderstandings with the company. However, on www.pissedconsumer.com I did find that customers are not happy with the products and services. Browse the web page, you may find something for yourself up there.
