I've never been to Chinquapin High School .
I just read an article about this unique high school located in Houston, TX. It is a small college prep high school which was created 38 years ago with a grant from the Brown Foundation. The school is funded on donations, and most of the students are on scholarship. What makes this school stand out from other prep schools? Most of the students come from families who live below the poverty level. But just because these kids come from poor families does not mean they cannot achieve. These students work long, rigorous hours to meet the demands of their school. This school does not do TAKS tests, has a low student to teacher ratio, and college acceptance is a requirement for graduation. CHS gives a student a classic education, and has sent graduates to places like UT, Notre Dame, and Columbia.
That I'd like to see.
